Getting started

How do I log an expense quickly?

Tap the bar on Home or in the Gastos tab and type one line, like Grab Car 500 yesterday, Starbucks 1,000 last wednesday or load 100 noong lunes. Judith fills in the amount, date, what it was for, the category, and where you paid from if you said it (gcash, cash, bpi). Check the preview and tap Save. To say it instead of typing, tap the mic on your keyboard.

How do I tag several expenses with GCash or my bank?

In Gastos, press and hold one expense, then tap the others. Tap Paid from… and pick the source. That only labels them. If you pick a bank account you track in Ipon, Judith asks whether to also take the total out of that account's balance. If you say yes, it is written in the account history, and you can tap that line there to undo it.

How do I log my sweldo or other income?

Use the same bar as expenses. Start with a + or use a word like sweldo, sahod, benta, raket or refund, for example sweldo 25k bpi or +1500 refund shopee. Judith switches to Kita and shows it in green. If you pick an account you track in Ipon, Judith asks whether to add it to that balance. Gastos then shows what came in, what went out and what is left for the month.

How do I track a credit card?

In Ipon, open Accounts and cards, tap Account or card and choose Credit card. Enter what you owe now, and if you like the limit and the due day. Tag expenses to the card and Judith asks before adding them to what you owe. When you pay, open the card, tap Pay card and pick the account you paid from: both balances change together. Tap any charge or payment in the history to undo it.

How do I save for something?

In Ipon, under Pangarap, tap New goal. Name it, set the target and, if you like, a date. Choose whether the money is set aside in one of your bank accounts or kept as cash in a vault. Judith shows how much to save each month or every kinsenas. Tap Add when you put money aside, or type it in quick add, like ipon 2000 japan trip.

What does "set aside" do to my bank balance?

Nothing. The money stays in the account. Judith reserves part of the balance for the goal, so the account shows what is set aside and what is free, and you can never set aside more than the account holds. If the balance later drops below what your goals have set aside, Judith tells you by how much so you can take it out of a goal.

Judith picked the wrong category.

Open the expense, pick the right one and save. Judith remembers your choice for that merchant next time.

How do I add an utang?

Go to the Utang tab and tap the add button. Pick or add the person, choose whether they owe you or you owe them, type the amount and, if you like, a due date and a note. Judith reminds you before the due date.

How do I record a payment?

Open the person and tap Payment. Partial payments are fine. Judith keeps the running balance, and it won't let a payment go over what's still owed.

How do I start a paluwagan?

In the Paluwagan tab, tap the add button. Enter the group name, the hulog per member, how often (weekly, kinsenas or monthly) and the start date, then add the members. You can set the order of turns yourself or let Judith draw it. Each round, tick off who has paid.

How does hatian work?

Create an event, like a trip or a dinner, and add everyone who joined. Log each expense and who paid for it. Judith works out each person's share and the fewest transfers that settle everyone up, and you can send each person a reminder.

How do I add a time deposit?

In the Ipon tab, tap Deposit and enter the bank, amount, rate, term and placement date. Judith shows the interest after tax, reminds you before it matures, and checks how much of each bank sits within PDIC cover.

What happens when a deposit matures?

Open it and tap Settle this deposit. You decide the interest and the principal separately. The interest can go to one of your accounts, be added to the next placement, or just be recorded. The principal can be rolled over at the same bank, placed at another bank, or withdrawn. You can set the new rate, term and tax, and Judith shows what the next maturity will pay. Everything lands in your interest ledger.

How do I keep an account balance up to date?

Go to Ipon, then Banks and investments, tap the account, then tap Update balance. Type what your bank app shows and a short note. Every change, including interest credited from a settlement, is kept in that account's history.

Can I log interest that did not come from a time deposit?

Yes. In the Interest ledger, tap Record interest collected for things like a bond coupon or monthly savings interest. If you pick an account, the net amount is added to its balance.

Reminders

How do I send a reminder?

Open the person or record and tap Remind. Pick the language and tone and check the message. Then tap Send via Messenger, Viber and the like, or Text message, or Copy to paste it anywhere. Judith opens your messaging app with the text ready, and you press send.

Can I change the language for one person only?

Yes. Whatever language you pick when you remind someone is remembered for that person. To change the default for everyone new, go to Settings and pick one under Reminders.

I'm not getting due-date notifications.

Check three things:

  • Notifications are on in Judith's Settings.
  • Notifications are allowed for Judith in your phone's settings.
  • On some Android phones, battery saver closes apps in the background. Set Judith to "No restrictions" or "Don't optimize" under Battery for Judith.

Your records and your phone

How do I move Judith to a new phone?
  1. On your old phone, go to Settings, then Cloud backup. Choose a passphrase and tap Lock and save. On Android pick Drive, then Save. On iPhone pick Save to Files, then iCloud Drive.
  2. Install Judith on the new phone.
  3. Go to Settings, then Cloud backup, tap Restore from a backup file, choose the file and type your passphrase.

If you have Pro, tap Restore purchase on the new phone, using the same Google or Apple account.

I forgot my backup passphrase.

We can't open a locked backup without it, and we never see it, so there is no reset. If Judith is still on your phone, make a new locked backup with a new passphrase right away. If you chose to have Judith remember the passphrase, it is used automatically on that phone.

Can you recover my records if I lose my phone?

No, and that's on purpose. Your records never leave your phone unless you save a backup, so there's no copy with us. The way back is a locked backup you saved to Drive or iCloud, or your phone's own Google or iCloud backup if that was turned on. Judith reminds you when your last locked backup is more than a month old. Pro also keeps weekly copies on the phone.

I forgot my PIN.

If you turned on fingerprint or face unlock, use that, or your phone's screen lock when it asks. Once you're in, you can change or remove the PIN in Settings.

If you only used a PIN, we can't reset it, because we don't have access to your phone or your records. You would need to reinstall Judith and restore from a backup file.

What happens to old records on the free version?

The free version keeps 12 months of history. Finished records older than that are saved to an archive file on your phone, with a week's notice first, and then removed from the lists. Records that are still owed or still running are never removed. You can download any archive from Settings. Pro keeps everything in the app.

How do I export to a spreadsheet?

Go to Settings and tap Export to CSV. It works on the free version too. The file opens in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.

How do I delete everything?

You can delete each person, group, event or deposit in the app. To remove everything at once, uninstall Judith. Since we hold no copy, that's all it takes. If you have Pro, cancel the subscription in your store as well, since uninstalling doesn't cancel it.

Judith Pro

What does Pro include, and how much is it?

₱299 a year. Pro removes every limit, keeps all your history, and adds receipt photos, all reminder tones and your own templates, foreign-currency deposits, the yearly interest ledger, weekly automatic backups and share card colors. See the full list.

I paid but Pro isn't showing.

Make sure you're connected to the internet, then open Settings and tap Restore purchase. Use the same Google or Apple account you paid with. If it still doesn't show, email us with your store order number.

How do I cancel?

Android: open Google Play, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, then Judith, then Cancel.

iPhone: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Judith, then Cancel Subscription.

You can also go there from Judith's Settings, under Manage subscription. Pro stays on until the end of the year you paid for.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by the store you paid through. For Google Play, request one at Google Play Help. For the App Store, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. If something went wrong with Judith itself, email us too and we'll help sort it out.

About Judith

Does Judith hold, send or lend money?

No. Judith is a listahan. It records what happened and does the math and reminders. It never holds, moves or lends money, and it doesn't connect to your bank or e-wallet.

Is the interest and tax computation exact?

Judith uses the rate and term you enter and applies the 20% final withholding tax on bank interest, which you can change in Settings. Banks sometimes round or count days differently, so treat Judith's figure as a close estimate and your bank's certificate as final.
